Ovarian cancer is found to be one of the most lethal gynecological malignancy. Many efforts have been carried out to improve the accuracy of sonography in discriminating benign from malignant lesions.Pelvic ultrasonography is considered an appearing alternative to laparoscopy in diagnosing ovarian mass lesion. The introduction of transvaginal color Doppler ultrasonography into gynecological use can better demonstrate the morphologic features of ovarian pathology. Also the introduction of contrast enhanced 3-dimensional power Doppler imaging, that easily and precisely discriminate benign from malignant ovarian lesions is considered the most recent evolution in imaging techniques.Recently, the application of 3D/US represents a noval approach for early and accurate detection of ovarian cancer.
