Abstract

The endonasal endoscopic and microscopic approach has been shown to be a relatively safe, reliable option in the management of distal lacrimal passage obstruction either bilateral, unilateral or recurrent cases. The endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (E.DCR) offers more advantages over external DCR approach. The endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (E.DCR) approach not only avoids an external facial scar but also preserves the functional pump mechanism of tearing and consumes short time in surgery.Mitomycin c was used to prevent the fibrosis and adhesion in and around the intranasal ostium. The CT scan with contrast was used to determine the level of lacrimal passage obstructiuon. The success rate was 92% with two procedures.
