Postmenopausal bleeding is an important and common problem where the most common cause is the indiscriminate use of estrogen as hormone replacement therapy. However, the most significant cause is malignant diseases. Our main objective is to assess the diagnostic accuracy of transvaginal sonography and the value of additional use of colour Doppler study in the early detection and differentiation between benign and malignant endometrial changes. This essay includes seven demonstrative cases who after careful clinical examination are examined by transvaginal sonography. Some are also examined by colour Doppler sonography as well. The findings obtained were correlated with histopathological diagnosis. Subsequently, we concluded that transvaginal sonography is a useful screening method for endometrial abnormalities. In patients with postmenopausal bleeding, it improves the clinical decision making. However, colour Doppler study in endometrial lesion, was of limited value due to overlap of benign and malignant findings.
