Laparoscopy is a safe procedure. It is not without complications at all. Laparoscopic surgery during pregnancy is limited by uterine size increasing throughout pregnancy. Fetal monitoring can be performed routinely during laparoscopic surgery. The length of surgery should be kept to minimum. Tocolytic agents should be given in cases of uterine contractions or irritability. Laparoscopic surgery can be performed in diagnosis and management of ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cyst, adnexal torsion, cervicoisthmic cerclage placement and removal and in surgical procedures as appendectomy and cholecystectomy.
