Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the early results of valve sparing aortic root reconstruction techniques in management oftype A aortic dissection.Valve sparing aortic root reconstruction had beenpopularized in the last decade over the classic root replacement(Bentall) procedure because preservation of the patient’s nativeaortic valve allows for better hemodynamics, left ventricularperformance, lesser risk of endocarditis and avoidance of life longanticoagulation.Despite remodeling respects more the aortic root physiologyyet it has higher failure rate due to progressive dilatation of theaortic annulus. Reimplantation offered better durability of aorticrepair due to annular stabilization.Patients with connective tissue disorders and bicuspid aorticvalve required composit graft replacement due to higher failurerate of valve sparing techniques.
