Various causes including skeletal malalignment, poor neuromuscular control of lower limbs, patellar instability, overuse, overload and biomechanical problems. X ray with special views, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound even arthroscopy should be obtained. Conservative treatment recommended for 3 6 months. Surgical treatment is indicated if conservative treatment failed. Surgical treatment consists of realignment procedures.
