Abstract

Objectives: to assess biophysical predictors of health related quality of life (RQOL ) in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis after Autologous haematopoietic bone marrow stem cell transplantation (AHBMSCT ) . Methods : in 41 consecutlve patients with advanced liver cirrhosis attending on liver center ( HRQOL ) was assessed by medical outcome study short from from health survey 36 ( SF - 36 ). Patients were divided into two groups : Group 1 : 23 patients who underwant ( AMBMSCT ) in a number ranged from 5 to 10 million cells injected into spleen ultrasonographic guided. Group 2 : 18 patients maintained on their ordinary liver supportive treatment including albumin transfusion , fresh plasma and vitamin K.Then all patients were followed by regular assessment of their ( QOL ) by SF-36 health survy for five months. Results : There was statistically significant improvement in QOL of Group 1 patients as measured by SF-36 questionnaire sfter haematopiotic stem cell transplantation , while there was no improvement in patients of Group 2. Conclusion : Stem cell transplantation in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis lead to improvement of quality of life.
