Abstract

Varicocele is an important cause of male infertility, resulting in oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia. A correct and early diagnosis of this affliction is of great importance because, in most cases, a timely correction, leads to an improvement in semen quality. Although physical examination is currently the standard diagnostic method for the diagnosis of varicocele, it is subjective and may have significant inter-physician variability. Doppler scanning is much more reliable, non-invasive and well tolerated by the patient, we studied the value of scrotal versus inguinal duplex in the diagnosis of varicocele as controlled by intraoperative histopathological evaluation in 42 infertile patients. The study showed that both scrotal and inguinal duplex have the same diagnostic value in the diagnosis of varicocle.
