The aim of this work is to use Saline infusion Sonohysterography in cases of abnormal uterine bleeding and to correlate findings with trasvaginal ultrasound findings, in order to detect prevalence of endometrial lesions among patients of abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods: a prospective study conducted at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Kasr El Eini Hospital, Cairo University. Study included 50 patients complained of abnormal uterine bleeding , and were subjected to transvaginal ultrasound, saline sonohysterography, fractional curettage and or hysterectomy followed by histopathological examination of the specimens. Results and Conclusions: Saline-infusion sonohysterography is superior to transvaginal ultrasonography –alone– in assessment of the uterine cavity. Saline-infusion sonohysterography improves the efficiency of transvaginal ultrasonography as a diagnostic tool, especially with intra-cavitary lesions as endometrial polyps and submucous fibroids.
