The aim of this work is to evaluate the accuracy of different indices(DAS28, SDAI, CDAI and MOI-RA) in assessment of rheumatoidarthritis activity based on grey scale and power doppler Ultrasonographyin RA patients recruited from the Rheumatology and Rehabilitationoutpatient clinic, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University Hospitals. One hundred RA patients were recruited for this study, from theRheumatology and Rehabilitation outpatient clinic, Faculty of Medicine,Cairo University Hospitals. All patients included in this study weresubjected to full history taking, clinical examination including assessmentof disease activity using different disease activity indices , laboratoryinvestigations, as well as plain radiography and musculoskeletalUltrasonography. Among the studied patients, a positive correlation was found betweendifferent disease activity indices as well as musculoskeletalultrasonographic findings and some clinical and laboratory manifestation. In addition a statistically significant positive correlation was foundbetween the number of patients with tender joints and the number ofpatients with fibromyalgia (r=0.2, p=0.01).A statistically significant positive correlation was found betweendifferent disease activity indices and the ultrasonographic findings; withthe highest correlation with CDAI (r=0.5, P = 0.00).
