Abstract

The diagnosis of infective endocarditis, particularly in blood culture negative patients have been a problem that required all the efforts to solve, as blood culture positivity was the corner stone of diagnosis. The aim of this work is to evaluate broad range PCR followed by sequencing using 16SrDNA and 18-28SrDNA and value of serological testing in the diagnosis of IE. Results showed Sensitivity 88.3%,Specificity 92%, positive predictive value 79.1%, negative predictive value 95.8%, Accuracy 91% for 16SrDNA PCR, the diagnosis of 11 cases of zoonotic infections, using serological testing, in cases of blood culture negative endocarditis.
