Abstract

Executive function is a multifaceted construct involving various sub processors such as cognitive inhibition, set shifting or flexibility and monitoring. Schizophrenia is also considered a construct involving a variety of symptoms traditionally grouped into negative and positive symptoms. Negative and dys-executive symptoms seem to be more stable and more associated with prognosis than other dimensions of schizophrenia. On the other hand interactions between positive symptoms, mainly delusions, and a lack of cognitive flexibility have been mentioned to be associated.
