Abstract

Neonatal sepsis is one of the commonest causes of morbidity and mortality in the neonates. Early diagnosis will help the usage of proper antibiotic which reducing the morbidity and mortality. This study was conducted on 80 neonates divided into study and control groups, to detect sepsis early and to clearly differentiate infected from non-infected neonates among the risk of infection by using PCT comparing to CRP. We found PCT was superior to CRP in early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis, detecting the severity and the outcome of the illness.
