Abstract

Oral ibuprofen is available and safe, while IV indommethacin has many side effects when used for PDA closure. Our hypothesis: Is oral ibuprofen is as effective as IV indomethacin in PDA closure? The study included 21 preterm infants proved to have PDA. The results of the study showed that the rate of ductal closure in the ibuprofen group was 83%, while in the indomethacin group it was 78%. We concluded that oral ibuprofen is as effective as IV indomethacin in PDA closure.
