Abstract

Involutional entropion is a common variety encountered affecting only the lower lids and is usually associated with aging. Involutional lower lid ectropion also occurs with aging changes. The aim of this work is to evaluate different surgical techniques for treatment of involutional lower lid entropion and ectropion. Forty six lids of senile lower lid ectropion and entropion were involved in this study, belonging to 35 patients. Cases were divided into 2 groups; each group was also divided into 2 subgroups. Success rate of group 1a (Transconjunctival repair) of senile entropion was 100%. Success rate of group Ib (modified corncrib operation) was 87.5%. Success rate of group II a (medial ectropion) which was treated by medial spindle & Lts (87.5%). Tarsal ectropion group which was treated by combined lateral tarsal strip and reattachment of lower lid retractors to the inferior border of the tarsus, success rate was 100% in this group.
