Abstract

Barrett's oesophagus, a complication of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, is the replacement of squamous tissue with specialized intestinal metaplasia. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of Barrett's oesophagus among Egyptian patients with reflux oesophagitis. Results: The study was done on 132 patients (31 females and 101 males) who suffered from GIT symptoms of reflux. It was found that the prevalence of Barrett's oesophagus in our patients was 16.7% of cases.
