Abstract

Back ground: Cardiogenic shock is a very serious medical problem that results in many deaths every year. Cardiogenic shock greatly affects the microcirculation. Objectives: The goal of this work is to assess the microcirculation in patients with cardiogenic shock. Methods: 15 patients with cardiogenic shock and 15 normal control subjects are included in this study. Assessment of microcirculation is done using laser Doppler flowmetry periflux 5000 (Satellite pemid Sweden) by thermal stimulation. Results: the comparative study between patients with cardiogenic shock and normal control subjects concerning laser Doppler flowmetry results showed that there was significant reduction in the microcirculation in patient with cardiogenic shock. Conclusion: Cardiogenic Shock causes marked reduction in microcirculation that was showing in this study using the recent sensitive laser Doppler flowmetry with the aid of thermal stimulation technique.
