Objective: To measure the level of serum soluble E- selectin (one of the adhesion molecules) in children with some glomerular diseases (APSGN and CRF) and compare it with control.Patients: Twenty children with APSGN and 20 children with CRF were tested for the presence of serum soluble E- selectin by ELISA. Ten apparently healthy, age and sex matched children were taken as healthy controls. Results:High levels of serum soluble E- selectin was found in patients with APSGN and CRF, and not in the control group. However, this high levels of serum soluble E- selectin has no correlation with kidney function in patients with APSGN, while a linear correlation with kidney function in patients with CRF was found suggesting a kidney role in the metabolism and / or clearance of circulating adhesion molecules.
