The effect of hearing loss on temporal auditory processing was examined in children suffering from mild to moderate degree of sensorineural hearing loss using different tests of temporal processing (Auditory Fusion test, Time compressed sentence test, Duration pattern test, Pitch pattern sequence test), and Mismatch negativity, and compared to normal hearing children. Sensorineural hearing loss affects all behavioral temporal processing tests including tests of temporal integration, resolution and ordering. Mismatch negativity can be elicited in normal hearing children as well as those with mild to moderate degree of hearing loss; Latency of MMN was prolonged in children with hearing loss in comparison with normal hearing children.
