Total hip arthroplasty in the setting of an acetabular fracture remains adifficult reconstructive dilemma. The procedure is much more difficult than aregular THA for degenerative arthritis especially on the acetabular side mainly dueto the presence of bone defects, nonunions and may be obstructive hardware andHO. From this view the procedure may resemble a revision surgery and should bedealt with as one. In this study we tried to express these difficulties and themethods used to overcome them. We also reported on the early results of thesecases regarding the functional outcome, complications and revision surgeries, andwe tried to correlate these outcomes with the different variables including the age, previous treatment and method of fixation of the acetabular component.
