Pulmonary tuberculosis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality world wide, resulting in the greatest number of deaths due to any one single infectious agent. Drug resistance threatens global tuberculosis control efforts. Multi drug resistance means drug resistance to at least rifampicin and isoniazid. This study was carried out on 119 patients, all with culture positive for pulmonary tuberculosis. These patients were subjected to drug and susceptibility testing for the first line drugs and some of the second line drugs, searching for the prevalence and the pattern of drug resistance tuberculosis.
