The ability of MR for high contrast imaging as well as its capability of multiplaner imaging give high tissue contrast and more accurate diagnosis for the ligamentous and labral injuries in cases of shoulder joint dislocation. Moreover ; the use of MR arthrography give a more accurate imaging to avoid the diagnostic pitfalls resulting from the normal anatomical variants. The shoulder joint is one of the common joints which showed many normal anatomical variants which may give false negative or false positive results in the MRI assessment of the shoulder joint. The clear anatomical background of this normal anatomical variants give more accurate MRI interpretation and help to avoid the resulting diagnostic pitfalls.
