Abstract

The study aimed at assessing aortic root distensibility and other aortic elastic properties in patients with coronary artery disease and its relation to different risk factors for the disease. The study population consisted of forty-four patients who underwent coronary angiography and transesophageal echocardiography. The subjects were divided into two groups, group I (normal coronaries) and group II (diseased coronaries). There was no statically significant relation regarding aortic distensibility and other aortic elastic properties between the two groups but aging, hypercholesterolaemia and hypertension were statistically associated with low distensibility.
