This essay is to review the incidence, risk factors, theories of the etiology, pathological picture, the pathophysiology, classification and specially to focus on the recent advances in methods of diagnosis and conservative management of endometriosis either by medical or surgical treatment aiming for the reduction of pelvic pain and increasing fertility.
