Abstract

Binge Eating Disorder has been added to the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) as a full-threshold eating disorder diagnosis. This addition has been marked by controversy concerning the potential to pathologize the common phenomenon of overeating. Several psychotherapeutic interventions were developed for treatment of BED, the most established and reported in researches was CBT. Cbt is a structered form of psychotherapy, targeting mainly symptoms. Also self help programs were proved to reduce frequency of binge eating episodes and improve the psychopathological features.
