Gallium scan is found valuable in the assessment of patients with Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is useful in the initial staging of the disease, evaluating response to therapy, assessing the nature of a residual mass, early detection of recurrence and predicting long term outcome.Gallium scan is a good functional imaging modality in malignant lymphoma which can differentiate between residual viable disease and fibrotic masses seen in CT scan, thereby identifying patients with refractory disease.
