Abstract

MDCT with advanced imaging processing is a powerfuldiagnostic non invasive tool that can clearly illustrate the hepaticarterial anatomy and its anatomical variants.CTA by different imaging processing parameters requires propertechnique, including adequate scan protocol, optimization ofcontrast delivery, and selection of appropriate phase of imagingacquisition.MDCT with advanced imaging processing and CTA allow earlydetection of hepatic tumors, their number, sizes, segmentallocation, and hypervascularity. In addition, it can easilydifferentiate between benign and malignant varieties byvisualization of feeding arteries, draining veins, central scars andseptations. Also, volume display is an important prerequisite beforeoperative tumoral resection as it determines the respectability ofthe lesions; as well it can select patients with hepatic metastaseswho would benefit from hepatic arterial chemotherapy pumpimplantation.Uncommon hypervascular liver lesions that simulate tumorscould be clearly delineated by MDCT with advanced imagingprocessing; This will reduce the false positive diagnosis ofhypervascular hepatic tumors.
