Abstract

This work aims at exploring the role of the family physician in diagnosing, risk assessment, prevention, screening, and referral of patients with genetic disorders and to Design a guide line for family physicians to deal with genetic disorders in primary care settings. This Proposal for Human Genetics Policy Guidelines are designed to facilitate the integration of genetic services into the comprehensive Primary Health Care package, focusing on patient care and primary prevention. The care of people (and their families) with a genetic disorder or birth defect includes both management and prevention.
