Abstract

Pain levels after Epi-LASIK are less than either after PRK and LASEK patients. The mean time for complete reepithelization after Epi-LASIK and LASEK is 72 hours while it is 96 hours after PRK. The UCVA may reach 6/6 from first postoperative month after Epi-LASIK with no incidence of loss more than 1 line of BSCVA, while about 35% can gain 1 or 2 lines of BSCVA. The contrast sensitivity value one year after Epi-LASIK is restored to at least the preoperative level in 90% of the patients. Whereas corneal sensitivity and tear function are restored by the third to sixth month after PRK and may take up to 16 months to attain normal values after LASIK, they are recovered by the third month after Epi-LASIK.
