Abstract

Mesenchymal Stem Cells are multipotent cells which can give rise to mesenchymal and non mesenchymal tissues invivo and invitro. They have the capacity of self-renewal and are capable of differentiation into cells of mesenchymal tissues such as chondrocytes, adipocytes, osteocytes, myocytes and tenocytes. Culture of Mesenchymal Stem cells by the use of specific culture media and the addition of nutrient supplementations to the culture is a promising avenue in regenerative medicine making these cells valuable candidates to be used in cell therapy approaches.
