Abstract

Traumatic defects of the dorsum of the foot and the ankle joint present a serious problem that can ultimately result in serious complications with loss of the functional action of the foot. Therefore, a multidisciplinary approach is required for proper management of traumatic defects of the dorsum of the foot and the ankle joint in order to achieve the best results regarding functional ability and cosmetic appearance of the foot.Traumatic to the foot and ankle account for almost 50% of all traumas affecting the lower limb. 70% are due to motor car accidents, 40% affects the dorsum of the foot, and 25% affects the Achilles tendon and the malleolar area.
