In this essay, we discussed a detailed knowledge of the different techniques of regional anaesthesia used for ophthalmic surgery and their advantages, with special emphasis on their value in reducing cost, morbidity and mortality rates of patients undergoing ophthalmic anaesthesia, and its suitability for day-case surgery which becomes popular in ophthalmic field. Regional anaesthesia is advisable, whenever possible, unless it is contraindicated.
