Post-traumatic elbow stiffness is a common problem that is often difficult to mange. The goal of treatment is to restore a functional range of elbow motion (>30° to 130°). Non-surgical treatment includes physical therapy and splinting. If non-surgical treatment has failed, the type of surgical treatment required depends on the extent of functional impairment. When functional impairment is minimal or moderate, soft-tissue bony impingement release offers reliable increase in elbow motion. When sever functional impairment, debridement arthroplasty has shown some success with increase in elbow motion. With very sever When functional impairment, the therapeutic option are more limited. Results from biological resurfacing arthroplasty are unpredictable, and total elbow arthroplasty should be reserved for lower demeaned elbow in older individuals.
