Abstract

Neonatal sepsis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality rate in early-onset sepsis 20-50%, in late-onset 10-20% select 30 newborns with sepsis and 20 healthy neoborns as control for study the role of cortisol in sepsis. Complete history (natal, prenatal, postnatal) and signs and symptoms with complete blood investigations and culture for every child. Results of our study showed that serum cortisol level was low in patient with poor prognosis this reflects the importance of use of steroids as adjuvant therapy in neonatal sepsis.
