Cardiac catheterization is considered one of the most recent and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tool in the field of cardiology worldwide. The peripheral arterial complications are considered one of the most common problems that had been seen after cardiac catheterization. This study was conducted over 100 patients who underwent cardiac catheterization for different diagnostic and therapeutic purposes at the National Heart Institute in Egypt. The types and incidence of the complications were nineteen cases of hematoma (19%), two cases of thrombosis (2%), one case pseudoaneurysm (1%), and one case pseudoaneurysm and A-V fistula (1%). Duplex considered an accurate and efficient tool for the diagnosis. Surgical intervention was of limited value as most of the complications were treated conservatively.
