Aim of the study is to assess the feasibility of the application of pneumodissection in open surgery. Patient and methods: twenty patients with non malignant, non-toxic indication for thyrodectomy have been subjected to this technique which is the use of pneumodissection to raise skin flap in the subplatysmal plan. The study focused on: how to establish the proper plan either by closed or open technique. How to create the plan by different methods of insufflation, and how to verify the proper plan of dissection. Results and conclusion: the technique has been practiced by its different modifications which revealed slight ease when compared with the standard technique not using the pneumodissection, with neglegable postoperative complication.
