The orbital fat is a single anatomic entity, fill the orbital cavity and no separation between fat located inside the muscular cone and fat situated at the periphery of the muscle, between them and the orbital wall. This study showed the presence of two fat compartments in the lower eyelid (medial and lateral). In the lateral yellow fat compartment, the major components were retinol, lutein and beta-carotene, while the medial white fat had similar composition but in smaller amounts.
