Abstract
Hysterectomy is one of the common procedures in the field of gynecology for decades the dilemma of whether to perform oophorectomy or preserve the ovaries at time of hysterectomy pre operative vaginal ultrasonography together with assessment of the vascularity was done , the same procedure was repeated one month and 3 months postoperative. They revealed the occurance of marked changes in both ovarian volume and diminished blood flow to the ovaries 3 months post-operative. These results support the lobby votting for the removal of the ovaries at the time of hysterectomy and the use of hormone replacement therapy.
