This study aims to evaluate the physical growth in children suffering from bronchial asthma and who did not receive any corticosteroid treatment. One hundred and twenty asthmatic children (70 boys and 50 girls), with an age range of 6 - 12 years (mean age ± SD, 8.06 ± 1.68 yr.) were studied. Body weight; standing height; head, mid-upper arm and chest circumferences; and skin fold thickness at the triceps and subscapular areas were measured. Results of the current study indicated retardation in all anthropometric traits of the studied asthmatic children with the exception of chest circumference regardless of age and sex. The current study concluded that bronchial asthma affects the growth of children who did not receive corticosteroid.
