Children in street situation (CSS) share common life experiences and barriers to services that increase their likelihood of negative health outcomes and death. Traumatic experiences early in life such as child abuse, are major risk factors for the development of a range of psychiatric and somatic disorders in adulthood. This is a case–control study that included 50 CSS, 31 males and 19 females aged 4 -16 years and 50 age and sex matched children as a control group. All cases and controls underwent full physical examination and the psycological evaluation was done by the arabic version of the strenghts and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ) and the childhood trauma questionnaire (CTQ). The results revealed that child abuse with its different types (physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect) was the main health hazard that CSS faced and are still facing.
