Abstract

This study is to weigh the advantage of bipolar TURP over monopolar TURP as regards to the anesthetic complications such as bleeding, ABG changes and TURP syndrome. In monopolar TURP Commonly used irrigation fluids is glycine 1.5%. Glycine is a popular irrigating fluid because of its good optical properties. While in bipolar TURP the common irrigation solution is normal saline which is more physiological solution. Our results demonstrate that bipolar transurethral resection of prostate causes less drop in sodium and Hb level and less fluid overload than monopolar transurethral resection of prostate which is associated with less complication however it takes longer resection time.
