Abstract

The current study describes the incidence and significance of cardiac troponin I release in head trauma patients. In this study, we identified three different patterns of troponin I release. A very transient (<12h) and insignificant (<2μg/L) release that is likely related to the hyperadrenergic state. A transient ≤36 h and significant (>2μg/L) release. A sustained >36 h and significant >2μg/l release. Out of 600 patients enrolled in the study over 18 months only 42 patients completed the study protocol while other patients are excluded due to associated neurological renal and cardiovascular disease and those with GCS>8.
