Abstract

Percutaneous spine fixation is a safe technique for treatment of lumbar spinal fractures. In this work we discussed the percutaneous spine fixation in lumbar fractures and degenerative changes. This study included 18 patients with 16 traumatic lumbar fractures and 2 degenerative spondylolithesis. These patients were treated by percutaneous pedicle screw fixation using CD Horizon ® Sextant spinal system and the two degenerative cases also with TLIF. In our study the indication for percutaneous pedicle screw fixation were unstable compression or burst fractures with no neurological deficits and canal encroachment must be less than 40% because higher grades are associated with posterior longitudinal ligament injury and rupture of annulus
