Abstract

This study designed to correlate between serum adiponectin and COPD severity in COPD patients. 50 copd cases and 20 healthy controls, subjected to history taking, clinical examination, chest x-ray, spirometry, body mass index calculation , six minutes’ walk test and liver and kidney functions tests. Adiponectin serum level was measured by ELIZA.The study showed that (1) serum level of adiponectin is higher in copd cases both underweight and normal weight COPD than healthy control. (2)No correlation between adiponectin level and COPD severity. (3) Negative correlation between adiponectin serum level in COPD cases and body mass index.
