Abstract

Objective: our purpose was to compare the accuracy of ultrasonographicintrapartum measurement of subcutaneous tissue / femur length ratio, estimation fetal weight in predication large for gestational agefetusesStudy design: Intrapartum songraphic measurements were performed in162 well –date gravidas at 37-42 weeks. The biparietal diameter, femurlength, abdominal circumference and subcutaneous tissue width of thethigh (SCT) were determined. After delivery fetal weight was measured.Result: Macrosomia occurred in 18 newborn (11.1). maternal paritybetween macrosomia and non macrosomia were similar (NS), there wasdifference in the SCT ,SCT/FL ratio ,also Hadlock and Shepard formulaeP= <0.001. sensitivit, specificity for SCT, SCT/FL ratio was 59.1%,77.9%, 63.6%, 76.4% respactivally. and sensitivity, of Hadlock andShepard was 68.2%, 54.5%, and Specificity was 100% .Conclustion: Sonographic examination of subcutaneous tissue to femurlength ratio is weak parameter for diagnosis of macrosomia in nondiabetic pregnancy and diabetic if used alone, Hadlock formula is bestformula for estimation of birth weight , and followed Shepard formula .
