Abstract

The aim of this study was to clinically evaluate coronally advanced flap plus subepithelial connective tissue graft compared to coronally advanced flap plus amnion chorion allograft membrane in management of patients with Miller class I or II gingival recession at 6 month postoperative. The study included twenty patients with 36 teeth (6 males and 14 females, aged 20 to 54 years) who were randomly assigned to either group. At baseline clinical parameters were recorded including; recession depth, recession width, width of keratinized gingiva, tissue biotype, plaque index, gingival index, probing pocket depth and clinical attachment loss. A coronally advanced flap using the trapezoidal flap technique was performed with the placement of either the subepithelial connective tissue graft or the amnion chorion membrane. The present investigation showed a total percentage of root coverage 87.9% and 80.83% for the subepithlial connective tissue graft group and the amnion chorion allograft group at 6 months respectively. The percentage of complete root coverage was 50% for both groups.Amnion chorionallograft might be a suitable alternative to connective tissue graft inprocedures to cover denuded root surfaces and can reduce recession depth.
