Abstract

Aim of the study: To detect the effect of platelet Rich Plasma in the implanted osteoporotic bone in rabbits. Material and method: Twenty four New Zealand white mature female rabbits weighing 3-4 kg were used for this study. The rabbits received tibial implants after forty five days and were divided into 3 groups. Two were fed on bran bread to induce osteoporosis and the second group receive implant with PRP and the third one fed on normal diet. Animals were sacrificed at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks after surgery and specimens were evaluated by electron microscope. Analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis. Results: Group 2 (Bran bread with PRP) showed the statistically significantly lowest mean gap distance (µm). Conclusion: The usage of platelet rich plasma was effective in osseointegration of the implants inserted.
