Diffusion weighted imaging adds useful information in diagnosis of brain tumors ; helps in grading of gliomas, and in differentiation of some brain tumors. It can distinguish tumor recurrence from post radiotherapy effect and benign from malignant cystic lesions. In addition, it can assess the response of brain tumors to therapy.
