Abstract

Injury to ends of the growing tubular bones in children may result in premature physeal growth arrest. The size and site of the arrest determine the kind of deformity that eventually will develop. MRI, especially the fat suppressed 3DSPGR sequence, is superior to other radiological modalities for accurate visualization of extent and location of the damaged area to identify the pattern of growth arrest and provide the necessary information to allow surgical planning.
