Abstract

This retrospective analysis confirms the impact of conserving surgery and radiotherapy in early breast cancer patients. It has shown equivalent local control rate and overall survival to that following mastectomy, with additional benefit of breast preservation, less side effects and better psychological impact in the majority of patients under study. No cost benefit difference between the two aims. More attention has to be given to patients with the criteria for this type of treatment.
